STANDING REGULATIONS FOR QUAD RACING 2010

The National Sporting Code of the ACU (as modified and adopted by the SACU) and the standing regulations together with the Supplementary Regulations and any Final Instructions shall apply to all Disciplines for the Sport.

1  ELIGIBILITY – For National Competition, Entrants/Drivers must hold a Current Competition Licence for International and National Events issued by the ACU, The Scottish Auto-Cycle Union, or the MCU of Ireland.
For all Competitions below National Status, a Current Competition Licence for International or National Events is also required. Details of eligibility will be found in the Supplementary Regulations of the Event.

2  ENTRIES – Entry Forms, accompanied by the correct entry fee, must be complete in every detail, signed by the Entrant/Driver and forwarded to the secretary of the meeting. The Entrant’s/Driver’s current Competition Licence Number must be stated. Details of entry fees will be stated in the Supplementary Regulations. All Licences must be shown when signing on. No exceptions, if the rider does not produce the Licence, he/she will have to buy a One Day Event Licence on which the rider will only be able to do once in the current year. Identity discs must be worn at all times, the disc must bear the wearers full name and date of birth.

3  ACCEPTANCE OR REFUSAL OF ENTRY – The promoter must notify Entrants/Drivers if their entry is being held in abeyance or has been refused. Entrants/Drivers, whose entries are held in abeyance or offered reserve positions, may enter another event on the same day provided that within seven days of such notification they inform the promoters, of the withdrawal of their original entry. The closing date of entries, the conditions for return of entry fee and any other special requirements will be contained in the supplementary Regulations.

4  CHANGE OF MACHINE – A change of machine may be permitted provided that prior notification is made to the Clerk of the Course before the event in which the change is to take place. A maximum of two machines is permitted.  The same machine must be used throughout any one race.

5  NON-STARTERS (NATIONAL COMPETITIONS ONLY) – The place of any non-starter shall be taken by a reserve Driver whose entry has been accepted, and in order of priority as listed in the official programme of the competition. A substitute Driver will be nominated only by the Entrant being the holder of an Entrants International or National Licence. Where a Driver is his own entrant, no substitution will be permitted.

6  ABANDONMENT – The organisers reserve the right, subject to the approval of the Stewards of the Meeting, to cancel, postpone or abandon any event, or the competition itself, if circumstances should arise which, in their opinion, render such action necessary.

7  ADVERTISERS – Advertising may be displayed on a motorcycle and on the drivers clothing and helmet subject to the conditions laid down in the NSC Appendix B, Clause 10.

8  FINAL INSTRUCTIONS TO DRIVERS – Any instructions to Drivers subsequently issued shall have the same force as these Standing Regulations and the Supplementary Regulations.

9  PROTESTS -

LODGING A PROTEST – Every protest shall be in writing, signed by the Entrant, or Driver making the protest containing details of the matter protested against and accompanied by a fee of fifty pounds. The protest fee will be refunded only if the protest shall be justified or upon a direction by the Stewards of the Meeting or the Scottish Auto-Cycle Union.

TO WHOM ADDRESSED – During a meeting, protest shall be handed to the Clerk of the Course or his representative. An appeal against the decision of the Clerk of the Course should be made to the Stewards of the Meeting. (NSC 11.02.1).

10  INTERPRETATION – The interpretation of these Standing Regulations and the Supplementary Regulations and Final Instructions to Drivers will rest entirely with the Stewards of the Meeting whose decision shall be final and binding except otherwise provided in the NSC.

11  DISCLAIMER – It is a condition of acceptance of entry that the promoter shall not be responsible for any damage to a quad or its accessories during the meeting.

12  LIABILITY FOR DAMAGE – An Entrant is liable for any damage caused by himself, his Driver, or any agent, representative or servant acting on their behalf, during the Meeting. The promoters may act as agents for such persons to agree and pay for any such damage, and Entrants shall on demand reimburse the promoters any such sum paid.

13  COMPLIANCE WITH REGULATIONS – Every entrant and driver, by entering or being entered or nominated thereby acknowledges that he/she is bound by the NSC of the ACU and these Standing Regulations together with any Supplementary Regulations and Final Instructions to be hereafter issued, to all of which he undertakes to submit, and moreover, renounces any right to have recourse to any arbitration or tribunal not provided for in the said Rules and Regulations.

14  MEDICAL FACILITIES AT EVENTS – The organizers of the events shall ensure that prior to and during the event there shall be 1 paramedic and 1 manned medical centre at all times. The medical centre shall be specially prepared as a first aid centre. The event organizers shall also inform the nearest hospital of the details of the permitted event.

15  ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES – Issues in ACU Environmental Code to be adhered to.
NOISE
Noise control after a race- any rider whose machine is above the limit(dBA 96 +2 ) whether It be one of the riders chosen at random or any other riders whose machine is controlled/verified – will be penalised by having  one minute added to his riding time for the race in question. 

 

16  COMPETITORS – Are reminded that random dope and drug testing can be carried out at any time.

 

17  ABUSE AND INTIMIDATION TO OFFICIALS AND RIDERS- Any rider or member of his party , on being reported to the Clerk of the Course, for causing intimidation or abuse to any official or other rider/person, will be immediately suspended from the event, removed from the results and asked to leave the event. A report will be sent to the SACU for possible further disciplinary action.

18  Before leaving a race facility, it is the responsibility of the rider to leave their pit area clean and free from any rubbish, oils, etc.

19. No-one except for riders officially entered and signed on may ride on the day of the meeting.

20  Unless directed to do so by the clerk of the course, no-one at any time will be permitted to ride a quad bike in the wrong direction on the track.

21 A rider leaving the course during a race may not re-enter the race and will not be awarded any points.  He/she will receive a DNF (did not finish) on their score sheet.

22  FLAGS

The black flag can be waived at any rider at anytime.  It signifies that the rider to whom it is directed must stop racing and report to a marshal at once!

The yellow flag can be waived at any rider and is an indication that there is some kind of danger on the track.  If you see this flag you must NOT overtake any other rider, only roll up and over any jump and slow down your speed to ensure you are aware of obstacles in front of you.

The white flag with a green cross signifies that medical attention is required.  If you see this flag you must NOT overtake any other rider, only roll up and over any jump and slow down your speed to ensure you are aware of obstacles in front of you.

The yellow flag with a black cross will be waived to the riders at the beginning of the last lap.  It signifies that there is only one lap remaining in the race.

The chequered flag signifies the end of the race.

The red flag indicates that the race is finished and you should leave the track at the exit.

 

23  START

The start will be live engine clutch type.
Once a rider has taken his position at the start gate, he cannot change it.

A rider is deemed to be under starters orders having been called to the start line, the started will hold up a green flag, from which moment the riders are under his control, until all riders are on the start line.  When all riders are on the start line, the starter will hold up a 15 second board for a full 15 seconds, he will hold up a 5 second board and the gate will drop between 5 and 10 seconds afters the 5 second is shown.
Riders having mechanical problems at the start gate must wait for assistance until the gate has dropped.  Once the gate has dropped there mechanics may assist at the gate.  The penalty for violation of this regulation is exclusion from the race in question

No one except DRIVERS and OFFICIALS shall be permitted to the area of the starting gate.  Drivers are allowed to groom the area behind the start gate only, provided no tools are used or outside assistance is provided.

24 FALSE STARTS

All false starts shall be indicated by waving a red flag.  The riders will have to go back to the waiting zone and re start will take place as soon as possible.

25OUTSIDE ASSISTANCE, COURSE CUTTING

Any outside assistance on the course is forbidden during the qualifying practise and the races unless it is carried out by a marshal appointed by the organiser to carry out his duty in the interest of safety.  The penalty for violation of this regulation may be exclusion

Re-starting of a machine by anyone other than the rider of that machine will result in automatic exclusion from the race in question.

 

26RESULTS

Results should be displayed within 30 minutes within the finish of the race.  The points accrued in the races at the meeting by the riders will be carried forward for the overall championship results.

If a tie occurs the following procedures will be used, all positions count, no race is dropped.

In favour of the rider gaining the greater number of first places or if this fails to decide a tie, then a favour of the rider gaining the greater number of 2nd places and so on.

If the above fails to decide a tie, then it will be resolved by the rider scoring the highest points in the last race in which the riders rode together.

 

2010 QUAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIP CONDITIONS

Holders of SACU, ACU, MCUI and One Day Event Licences are eligible.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

1 Nerf Bars – All machines must be fitted with Nerf Bars of sound engineering construction, must be securely attached to the machine between the front and rear wheels and must not extend beyond the width of the wheels and tyres fitted to the machine. The Nerf Bars to be fitted with webbing or similar material to prevent a rider’s foot from passing between the Nerf Bar and footrest.  Heel guards must be fitted.

2 Throttles – All throttles must be self-closing. A twist grip throttle can be fitted.

3 Handlebars – The ends of the handlebars must be protected by rubber handle grips with closed ends. All brake and clutch levers must be ball ended.

4 Kill Switch – All machines must be fitted with a kill switch system that works with a lanyard type ignition cut out, attached to the rider’s wrist or body and must be worn if the engine is running.

5 Removal of Lamps Etc – All lamps, reflectors and registration plates must be either removed or taped up with a heavy duty tape.

6 Number Plates – All machines must be fitted with number plates that are fitted securely, one at the front and one at the rear of the machine in a shark fin way. Number plates must be of a flat surface, made from semi-rigid material with no sharp edges.

7. Joints and Bushes – All ball joints/ A Arms and swing arm bushes may not have more than 1mm of movement at the joint.

8. Chain and Sprockets - An adequate guard must be fitted to prevent any accidental contact with the leading edge of the chain and sprocket.  Front and rear sprocket cover must be fitted.

9. Riding in Pits – Helmet must be worn.  Ride in 1st gear at idle speed only. Kill switch must be attached by lanyard at all times.

10. All riders under the age of 16 years must be accompanied by an adult to the signing-on, riders meeting and scrutineering.

11. Scrutineering – Technical inspection of quad bikes, equipment, and riding apparel will be held prior to a race meet and other times as determined by the Clerk of the Course.  Any quad bike involved in a crash necessitating a restart shall be rescrutineered before allowed to restart.

 

All other Regulations are as per SACU Rules for individual classes

Neck guards not compulsory for 2010.

 

ENTRIES

There will be a maximum number of 30 riders for each class. Classes will be, chosen by a qualifier if necessary.  Transponders will be required for all classes except 50cc Autos at championship level.  All entry forms, along with correct entry fee, must be, sent in by at least seven days before the event date.
24 hours notice, must be given before event to guarantee a refund, if rider cannot compete.

All Championships will consist of seven rounds with seven rounds counting towards your overall championship positions.
Each round will consist of three races.
Each race will be scored down to 20th place on the basis of:-
25, 22, 20, 18, 16, 15, 14, 13 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

Championship classes will be decided by a qualifying round.

 

The length of each race shall be advised to the rider prior to the start. However, in most circumstances will be as follows; -

50cc max          6 minutes plus one lap
50cc – 100cc   8 minutes plus one lap
100cc-200cc  12 minutes plus one  lap
250cc              12 minutes plus one  lap
Over 40’4       12 minutes plus one  lap
B Class           12 minutes plus one  lap
A Class           15 minutes plus one  lap

 

QUAD CLASSES 2010

 Adult Championship 

Ages from 16 years old as at 1st January.
Riders at an age from 15½ years old could race depending on ability and
Experience at the discretion of the SACU Quad Committee.

Adult Support championship

Ages from 16 years old as at 1st January.
Riders at an age from 15½ years old could race depending on ability and
Experience at the discretion of the SACU Quad Committee.
Any rider finishing top 3 in the support championship will automatically
Race in the adult championship the following year.

Over 40 Years Championship

Ages from 40 years old as at 1st January.

Maximum 250cc 2 stroke air cooled/water cooled open class/Maximum 250cc 4 stroke

Air cooled/water cooled open class.
(A’ Class)

Ages from 14 to 17 years old as at 1st January.
Modifications allowed to all components.

Maximum 200cc 2 stroke air cooled open class/ Maximum 250cc 4 stroke air cooled open class.

(‘B’ Class)

Ages from 12 to 16 years old as at 1st January.
Modifications allowed to all components.

Maximum 200cc 2 stroke air cooled standard class/ Maximum 250cc 4 stroke air cooled
Standard class.
(‘C’ Class)

Ages from 12 to 16 years old as at 1st January.
No performance parts to be fitted to machine.
The exhaust system must remain standard.
The cylinder head, barrel and piston must remain standard.
The carburetor and jets must remain standard.
Air filter and air box must remain standard.
The frame must remain standard (although strengthening gussets are permitted).
The clutch and gearbox must remain standard.
Safety enhancements to wheels, tyres, chain and sprockets, handle-bars, suspension, A arms, steering damper, rear axle are allowed

Maximum 50cc Open Auto Class
(‘G’ Class)

Ages from 7 to 9 years old as at 1st January.
1 years minimum racing experience (licence must corroborate this).
Modifications allowed to all components.

Maximum 50cc Standard Auto Class
(‘H’ Class)

Ages from 6 to 9 years old as at 1st of January.
No performance parts to be fitted to machine.
The exhaust system must remain standard.
The cylinder head, barrel and piston must remain standard.
The carburetor and jets must remain standard.
Air filter and air box must remain standard.
The frame must remain standard (although strengthening gussets are permitted).
The clutch and gearbox must remain standard.
Safety enhancements to wheels, tyres, chain and sprockets, handle-bars, suspension, A arms, steering damper, rear axle are allowed

Adult Championship, Adult Support Championship and Over 40 years Championship may race together at the discretion of the organising club.

Class A, B and C may race together at the discretion of the organising club.

Class D, E and F may race together at the discretion of the organising club.

Class G and H may race together at the discretion of the organising club.
